2005 WAS THE BEST YEAR FOR MOVIES EVER!

The Pacifier, Monster-in-Law, Stealth, The Dukes of Hazard, Fantastic Four, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Bewitched, Chicken Little, Guess Who, Hitch, Star Wars: Episode III, War of the Worlds...

Do I need to keep going?

What a fu#king great year for movies!

Holy Sh#t! I don’t know about you, but I hand to exercise some will power baby!

I mean there were so many kick ass choices every week that I could’ve spent my whole pay check on the awesome movies that came out every week!

“...cause that’s my number one number one movie!”

For this exact reason I’ve set myself up for something that will make 2006 fu#king awesome!

My younger brother is gonna hook me up with a job as an usher at the movie theater where he’s an assistant manager. You know what he told me - and I still don’t believe him - that if I work at the theater, I can watch ALL THE MOVIES I WANT....FOR FREE!!!

Call me a crack whore and give me a job on the assembly line at the crack plant!

That’s a no brainier bro!

If 2006 is anything like 2005, it’s on like Voltron beyatch!

Let’s start with my favorite movie of year, the movie that if I were the one deciding the Oscars, this one would get it for everything...Doom!

“Call me a crack whore and give me a job on the assembly line at the crack plant!”

I played the video game back in the day and thought that it would make a great movie! And it did! The Rock was awesome! The effects were awesome! And you know I’ve got it on DVD!

I don’t know about you guys, but I didn’t have a top ten list this year, I had a top 100 list and even then it was too hard to pick if one was better than the other so I’m just gonna go with my gut and list them all as my #1 movie...cause they are! Except Doom, cause that’s my number one number one movie!

Do you know I was told by “The Man” that I could only do a top ten list. But you know what I did? I fought for what I believed in! I wanted 20! And you know what? I got it!

You know what the best part is? That I learned to do that from Herbie: Fully Loaded.

That’s right! Lindsay Lohan had to fight to be in that race! And I remembered that when “They” wanted to hold me down!

That’s why it was a great year for movies! Cause of the hot girls, big explosions, great dialog, awesome car chases, scary-ass moments and some life lessons!

This is the best time for movies ever!

2005 WAS THE WORST YEAR FOR FILM EVER!

The Pacifier, Monster-in-Law, Stealth, The Dukes of Hazard, Fantastic Four, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Bewitched, Chicken Little, Guess Who, Hitch, Star Wars: Episode III, War of the Worlds...

Need I continue expanding this list of cinematic atrocity that is overwhelming the ever dwindling list of actual films made each year?

What a depressing, demoralizing, angst ridden year for film lovers.

Were there any real films released this year? Yes, but there were so few that they belong in a protective habitat because they are an endangered species.

Where are the craftsman? Where are the masters? The forged artists controlling the tools of their craft to create works that ponder the depths of the human situation. That awe us on the levels of story, direction, acting, cinematography, costume, editing...ALL OF IT!

We know the answer in our sad, crying, sulking, broken, film loving hearts.

Kubrick, Kirwosawa, Wells, Hitchcock, Wilder, Bergman, Felini, Bresson, Renior, Ford, 1970’s Coppola & Freidkin...these are the fathers of Cinema. Where is the generation that continues their linage?

The list of certifiable filmmakers that would carry the torch of the auteur is dwindling. This year a few of these craftsmen were active: Sam Mendes , What’s his “Chicago” Name, Robert Rodrigez, What’s his “City of God” name, David Cronenberg, Jim Jarmush, Danny Boyle, Wang Kar Woo, Spielberg.

But that’s it. These are the members, the knights of the sacred film roundtable. These are the artisans who are left to carry the torch, to keep hope alive that a new golden age of le cinema will reemerge.

Like David and Goliath, only 10 films were made of the 300 released this year. The forces of fimmaking mediocrity are circling. Can the giant enemy shaped of Movie Sh#t be undone by a small yet potent number films?

This is an age dominated by movies made to gross big box office in the short term and unknowingly destroy us in the long term.

“Will any film from 2005 make the AFI list in 2099?”

Will any film from 2005 make the AFI list in 2099 when the best films of the past century are chosen?

We know the answer in our sad, crying, sulking, broken film loving hearts.

Thankfully there are DVD rentals. This is is the place where the masters are immortal. This is where those who love film can seek shelter, stay sane and nurtured until this dark age of movie dominance passes.

This is the worst time for film ever!
